1. The cosplay competition is open to any competitor entering a costume based on (but not restricted to) Anime, Manga, Video Games, Movies, Comics, Novels and Toys.
2. Participants will be limited to 50 contestant/cosplayers. (40 Pre-Event registration and 10 On-site, Event-Day)
3. There will be an online registration, and a designated registration area in the mall for pre-event registration.
4. The contestants are required to bring a photo of the original basis of their costume. For online registrations, please attach the image with your registration (at least 400x600). For on-site registrants, please prepare a print out (photo should be at least 5x8" in size). If costume is based on an original idea/character, no need for pictures, however, this must be indicated in his/her registration.
5. Safety first. Bringing and using sharp weapons and blades are prohibited. If weapons are part of ones costume this must not be sharpened and must not be realistic, which may scare the public.
6. Each contestant will go up on stage and may perform within a period of 1 minute. He/She may use the microphone and bring props. The sound system cannot be used used except for the microphone.
7. Human props and pets are prohibited.
8. There will be 3 main winners: 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place. And various consolation prizes for special categories.
9. The winners will be awarded with cash prizes, gift certificates or items from the sponsors.
10. Criteria for judging is as follows:
Craftsmanship : 25%
-How well-made the costumes is?-Quality of materials?-Is it held together securely?Accuracy : 25%
-How close does entry it look to the original reference?-Over-all coherence?Performance : 40%
-Is the performance in-line with the character's persona?-How well is it executed?-Difficulty of performance?Audience Impact : 10%
-How well did it appeal to the audience?11.
Deadline for Online Registration is at 11:59pm, June 24 2009. Online registrants should email their entries to
info@cosplaycircle.com. Onsite registration at the Archeology Section, Powerplant, Rockwell, will close at exactly 1pm or when the slots are filled up, whichever comes first. More details below.
12. No messy substances. Contestants should not leave trash or materials hazardous to the next contestants. (Eg. Oil, powder and other substances that can make the floor slippery for the next user).
13. Assembly area for the contestants will be at the Archeology Section of the Mall. Contestants must have their pictures taken prior to going on stage. Participants will be given a free print of their photo in return.
14. Participants should be at the designated places following the schedule of activities. Latecomers will be disqualified.
15. Any photo’s taken during the cosplay competition may be used for promotional purposes by the Rockwell Management, Maxicollector and Cosplay Circle.
16. Kindly review the rules carefully. Ignorance of the rules is no basis for exemption of any rule.
17. Promoting violence as well as lewd and obscene behavior will not be allowed.
18. The organizers may revise the guidelines and schedules prior to the start of the competition so please be sure to check your email inboxes for updates.
Non-compliance of the stated rules will result to the disqualification of the participant.
